Sources of Basement Moisture Problems

I've been reading many reports about flooded basements recently, most of them due to heavy rains and melting snow. Basement flooding is a very different problem than wet basements caused by condensation. If you're not accustomed to seeing your basement turn into an indoor swimming pool, there's a good chance that when it does you will face water damage to the belongings you've stored down there.

A good basement is a terrible thing to waste. Fortunately, most moisture problems in the basement can be reduced or eliminated. The first step is to find out where the water is coming from. Read 8 Common Sources of a Wet Basement for some tips.
